Foreign Students Education

Qualification for Entrance
U ndergraduate: The applicant should have the academic background equivalent to a graduate from Chinese high school, be healthy, under the age of 25, and receive a satisfactory score in the entrance examinations held by Wuhan University of Technology.
P ostgraduate for Master's Degree: The applicant should have a Bachelor's degree or an equivalent level of education, be healthy and under the age of 45. Those who have graduated from a Chinese University with a good record will be admitted upon recommendations.
P ostgraduate for Ph. D.: The applicant should have a Master's degree or hold an equivalent level of education, be healthy, under the age of 45 and should pass the entrance examinations given by a Ph. D supervisor.
G eneral Student for Further Studies: The applicant should have completed at least 2 years of undergraduate study or have equivalent level of education, be healthy and under the age of 40.
Advanced Student for Further Studies: The applicant should hold a Bachelor's degree and have a professional title above the level of associate professor, be healthy and under the age of 50.
S tudent Majoring in Chinese Language, Chinese Culture or Chinese History: The applicant should be interested in the Chinese language, Chinese culture or Chinese History, be healthy, and 15 to 55 years old.

Application for Entrance
1.The Chinese Government Scholarships: The applicant should first submit application materials to his/her own government department for such exchange programs and should obtain necessary forms from the Chinese Embassy (Consulate) by the and of February. These application materials should be sent to the Chinese Administrative Commission for Funds of Studying Abroad either by the Chinese Embassy or by the Embassy of the student's home country in China before April 30. Once the application materials are reviewed and are admitted by the university in compliance with relevant regulations, the applicant may be awarded a government scholarship provided by the Ministry of Education of China.
2.All applicants must complete and submit the Application Form for Foreigners Wishing to Study in China, the Physical Examination Record for Foreigners, a notarized copy of the highest diploma and transcripts. Those wishing to study for their Master's or doctorate degrees should also submit two recommendation letters written by professors or associate professors or people holding an equivalent title.
3.Self-supported students or those with scholarship provided by their own government may contact the International Office in the university for admission forms. Upon completion, application forms should be sent back directly to the university.

Registration
The students awarded the Chinese Government Scholarship, self-supported students, and students financially supported by their own government can apply for a visa at Chinese Embassies by submitting the forms of ?¡ãVisa Application for Foreigners Wishing to Study in China?¡À (JW201 for scholarship student, JW202 for self-supported students), ?¡ãPhysical Examination Record For Foreigners?¡À and ?¡ãAdmission Notice?¡À. All overseas students should register in the university within the period fixed in the form of ?¡ãAdmission Notice?¡À.


Method of Study
U ndergraduate: The length of schooling: 4 years. Teaching language: Chinese.
After l year of Chinese Language learning, foreign students usually share the same courses with Chinese students. However, foreign students can be excused from some optional courses according to their individual situation. When the students pass all required course work and successfully defend the oral thesis examination he or she will receive a Bachelor's degree.
P ostgraduate for Master's degree: The length of schooling: 2 or 3 years. Teaching Language: Chinese or English. Under the guidance of a supervisor, the foreign student should complete course study and pass all the obligatory examination.
T he degree of Master is conferred on the students who succeed in all the activities mentioned above. Students who have failed in the examinations will lose the chance to write their graduation thesis and will only be conferred with a Certificate of Course Study.
P ostgraduate for Ph. D. Degree: The length of schooling is 3 years. Teaching language: Chinese or English. Under the guidance of a supervisor the students must complete all the required courses, write a graduation thesis and pass the dissertation. The degree of Ph. D. is conferred on the students who succeed in all the activities mentioned above.
G eneral Student for Further Education: The length of schooling is 1 or 2 years. Teaching language: Chinese or English. Students may share the same courses. After passing the examination, the student will be awarded a Certificate of Advanced Study.
A dvanced Student for Further Education: The length of schooling is 1 or 2 years. Teaching language: Chinese or English. The university will appoint a supervisor to give guidance for the student's research work. When the program is completed, the student will be awarded a certificate.
R esearch Scholars: The research length depends upon the specific research need. After the scholars successfully conduct research under a WUT supervisor and realize the planned aim he or she will be awarded a Certificate of Research.
S tudents for Studying Chinese Language, Chinese Culture, or Chinese History Senior: The University will hold elementary, secondary and Senior Chinese language classes and offer courses on Chinese History and Chinese Culture to meet the student's requirements.

Tuition
¡ö Undergraduate for a Bachelor's Degree: 16,000 yuan/year (or¡ç 2,000)
¡ö Postgraduate for M. Sci. or M. Eng : 20,000 yuan/year (or¡ç 2,400)
¡ö Postgraduate for Ph. D.: 24,000 yuan/year (or¡ç 2,900)
¡ö General student for further education: 16,000 yuan/year (or¡ç 2,000)
¡ö Advanced student for further education:20,000 yuan/year (or¡ç 2,400)
¡ö Student majoring in Chinese Language, Chinese Culture or Chinese History: 400 yuan/week (or¡ç 50) 8,000 yuan/half year (or¡ç 1,000) 16,000 yuan/year (or¡ç 2,000)
¡ö Registration Fee:100 yuan (¡ç 20)
¡ö Other fees for boarding, medical treatment, textbooks, field practice etc. will be charged according to the actual amount of cost.
¡ö Students majoring in arts will be charged a tuition of 5o% more then the above standard.

Lodging
¡ö Double-bed room equipped with a bathroom, TV set, air conditioner, and telephone: 25 yuan per bed per day (or¡ç 3).

¡ö Single-bed room with a bathroom, TV set, air conditioner, and telephone:40 yuan per day (or¡ç 5).

¡ö Apartment with inner the room a kitchen, bathroom, TV set, air conditioner, and telephone: 70 yuan per day (or¡ç 8).

Points for Attention
1.All students except those awawrded the Chinese Government Scholarship should buy by themselves medical insurance, life and accident insurance in their home countries.
2.Married students wishing to bring their families with them should contact the university International Office for permission in advance.
3.Upon the completion of the study and during vacations, the university organizes trips in China for the foreign students. The traveling route may be decided in advance or discussed.
